DON'T OVERLOOK COMFY!
SHINEY AND NEW WAS NEVER FOR ME. I HAVE ALWAYS LOOKED PAST THE NORMAL AND FOUND A LOVE FOR THINGS FORGOTTEN OR SET ASIDE. THIS OLD LEATHER CHAIR AND PILLOW HAVE LISTENED TO MANY STORIES BEING TOLD WHILE OCCUPIED. LET THE STORIES CONTINUE AND ENJOY THE PAST, EVEN IF IT IS WORN AND TATTERED. THIS CHAIR LIVES IN THE A SUMMER HOUSE THAT IS OWNED BY THE PHOTOGRAPHER I ALWAYS WORK WITH. GOOD JOB KINDRA FOR SAVING A LIFE!

THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING
I HAVE BEEN COLLECTING EARLY PUDDING MOLDS FOR YEARS NOW. I HAVE THEM SCATTERED AROUND ALL THE HOUSES. I LOVE THE MOTTLED COLORS OF THE IRONSTONE AND ALSO THE INTERSTING MOLD PATTERNS IN THEIR INTERIORS. I HAVE RABBITS, FROGS, ELEPHANTS, BIRDS, AND FLOWERS JUST TO MENTION A FEW. THEY USUALLY RUN ABOUT $100 HERE IN THE STATES, SO ANYTHING UNDER THAT I GRAB 'EM. THEY LOOK GREAT GROUPED ON MANTLES, IN CUPBARDS, OR EVEN ON WINDOW SILLS ALL LINED UP. START COLLECTING THEM TODAY, YOU WON'T BE SORRY.
BOAT A SHORE!
THIS HAND MADE BOAT RESTS ON THE MANTLE IN SOUTHERN MAINE YEAR ROUND. I LOVE THE GREEN ACCENTS ON IT. IT IS JUST AS ENJOYABLE AS IT IS SIMPLE. IT DOESN'T NEED CANDLESTICKS OR PAINTINGS AROUND IT. MY FAVORITE WORD IS "EDIT", EVERYONE SHOULD USE IT.
CHRISTMAS AND IRONSTONE
CHECK OUT MY WHITE WIRE CHRISTMAS TREE. I JUST LOVE IT AND LEAVE IT UP YEAR ROUND IN THE MAINE DINING ROOM. IT'S THE ONLY LIGHT IN THE ROOM!

I'VE HAD A 30 YEAR CRUSH. YEP AND IT'S WITH CHER. I DID THIS PORTRAIT OVER TWENTY YEARS AGO IN PASTELS ON PAPER. I THINK IT WAS FROM THE COVER OF THE "STAR" MAGAZINE OR SOMETHING LIKE IT. YOU'LL FIND HER IN MY IPOD, HANGING ON MY WALL, AND ATTACHED TO MY HEART. IF THE HOUSE WAS BLOWING AWAY, I'D GRAB DALE FIRST, THE DOGS SECOND, AND MY CHER PORTRAIT. NOW YOU KNOW!

BREAKFAST OR ART "A STUDY IN YELLOW"
VISUALLY STUNNING....BUT NOT FOR LONG
It's perfect! (oops! did I just say that?!) Actually, speaking of... I found your blog through Marjolijn from Something White, in Belgium. She has a picture of a copy of your book and a saying of yours. The quote is, "perfect is boring." This is funny because, we too, live in Vermont in an old house with gorgeous old barns. I shared this quote with my husband because I'm always having to fight the new house syndrome that he seems to have. (i.e. he has a knack for turning old houses into something that looks new - I think that I'm rubbing off on him though.) Anyway, when I told him, he replied, "oh, is that why I never have a moments peace here?!" In his defense, however, he's OLD Vermonter (the King gave his family the land) and he does truly love his old barns!!! He just doesn't want them to fall down!
ReplyDeleteOn another note, (and I AM sorry - I leave mammoth comments, sometimes) we absolutely love maritime history. I wanted to get my husband a ship in a bottle this Christmas but we are on the smaller end of a budget. Oh, the gorgeous crafts that I saw but couldn't afford. Why didn't I think of this????? I think that I am going to shamelessly copy you. It's just TOO brilliant!
I'm so happy that I came to visit.
Love, Katy Noelle
How funny that the person above posted about the Ships in a Bottle and I was going to comment on them too. Very charming and creative. And I love the ironstone and also loved the Shell Shock. But I love all your pictures really and particularly enjoy your dogs. Dogs are wonderful. Your book remains my favorite of all my books. I hope you do another book.
